Alpine Road to Russian Ridge

The Alpine road to Russian Ridge trail is a really great ride for the person that wants a solid workout and breathtaking views all wrapped in to one. We are talking about a 9 mile ride with about 1850 feet of accent and glorious decent. Bring a good amount of water on this ride and be sure to follow all the normal etiquette as there are hikers and other riders in the area.

Exit the 280 on Alpine Rd and follow Alpine Rd. South all the way up till you hit the residential entrance gate at Ciervos Rd (pictured below). You can park near this gate but do not block the gate (also pictured below, Follow all signage and use common sense).

The Gate

You will start this ride climbing up both single and double track trails until you reach skyline. This climb is a bit challenging but well worth your time as the downhill is a thrill.

Hang a right on Cloud’s Rest trail, Be sure not to continue straight on Meadow’s trail. Once you pass a gate you will hit a dirt road which eventually turns in to pavement and leads you to skyline.
Upon arriving at Skyline you will hang a left and continue a couple hundred yards crossing Skyline to the entrance to the Russian Ridge Preserve. Follow the Ridge trail to Ancient Oaks to Charquin to Alder Spring Trail and then the Fire Lane takes you back to Skyline where you will make a right turn and head about a half a mile back to pick up Cloud’s rest across the street.
